Theewater Sports Club

A Special Place That Brings You Closer to Nature

TSC The Place To Be!

Camping, Water Sports & Recreation Since 1979

Theewaterskloof Dam

Theewaterskloof Dam was completed in 1980 by the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF) with the aim of supplying water to the greater Cape Metropolitan area and the Riviersonderend Valley. Theewaterskloof Dam is the seventh largest dam in South Africa and covers an area of 5 100ha with a capacity of 483 million cubic metres, when full.

Theewater Sports Club

Founded on the 27th of July 1979, the Club has grown from humble beginnings to be one of the largest water sports clubs in South Africa. The unique location, excellent water sports conditions, good infrastructure and picturesque setting has made TSC one of the most popular recreational venues in the Western Cape.

Surrounding Area

Villiersdorp is a farming town and if you pass through it, it will appear that there’s not much there. However, if you stop and stay for a while, you’ll find that this community at the one end of the Franschhoek Pass has plenty to offer its visitors, while still retaining its small town charm.

The surrounding mountains offer a variety of hiking and mountain-biking trails. While for the less energetic a round of golf, a visit to the Tractor Museum, art gallery and a wine tasting & lunch may be more appealing.

Sports & Recreational Opportunities

No matter what your choice of water sport, Theewater Sports Club is the place for you and your family to relax and unwind while enjoying the wide array of water sports on offer. Please download our Water Safety Booklet for more information on the do’s & don’ts.
